Factory Reset Windows 10 and Windows 11

Back up any important data before performing a factory reset.
"Remove everything" will delete all personal files, applications, and settings.
"Keep my files" will reinstall Windows as it was new from the factory, and keep your personal files. But will remove downloaded apps and settings.

Reset Windows 10

  • RIGHT Click on Start/Windows icon
  • Open Settings
  • Click Update & Security
  • Click Recovery
  • Click Get Started
  • Click Reset PC
  • Click Remove Everything
  • (or Click Keep my files)

Reset Windows 11

  • RIGHT CLICK on the Start/Windows icon
  • Open Settings
  • Click System
  • Click Recovery
    or
  • Click Settings
  • Click Windows Updates
  • Click Advanced options
  • Click Recovery
  • Click Reset PC next to the Reset this PC option
  • Click Remove Everything
  • (or Click Keep my files)

Reset Using Command Prompt

  • RIGHT CLICK on the Start/Windows icon
  • Select Command Prompt, Power Shell, or Terminal AS ADMINISTRATOR
  • Type "systemreset -cleanpc" and press Enter will delete all personal files, applications, and settings.
    or
  • Type "systemreset" and press Enter will reinstall Windows as it was new from the factory, and keep your personal files. But will remove downloaded apps and settings.
