Theodrick Bradford Grant
#1
Theodrick Bradford Grant was born December 18 1844, location unknown. He died September 19, 1917 in Meigs County Tennessee. He is buried in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery in Meigs County Tennessee.

In the 1860 census he was living with his mother Jane and his sister Mary in Jefferson County Tennessee. It has been suggested they may have previously lived in Granger County Tennessee, but no proof of this yet.

His mother was Jane (maiden name unknown) Grant. Census data states she born in South Carolina around 1816 and died after 1880. Her marital status is listed as widow. She is listed in the 1860 Jefferson County Tennessee census, and living with her are T[heodrick] age 16, and M[ary]. The 1870 census shows Jane living with Theodrick in Roane County Tennessee, and also Jane and Mary living apart from Theodrick in Meigs County Tennessee. The 1880 census shows Jane and Mary living in Loudon County Tennessee. Information regarding Jane's and Mary's deaths are unknown.

The name of Theodrickś father is unknown. There are many Grants living in Jefferson County Tennessee prior to and after 1860. He is never listed as living with them in any census. Several individuals have been suggested but census data shows none of those suspects are her husband.

The children of Jane and [unknown] Grant are:
Martha dates unknown
William dates unknown
Amanda 1836 - 1896
Julia 1840 - 1919
Theodrick 1844 - 1917
David 1847 - 1924
Mary 1851 - after 1880

Theodrick enlisted for service in the Civil War with the Union Army in Knoxville Tennessee.

After the Civil War he settled in Roane/Meigs County Tennessee.

He was baptised at Concord Baptist Church in May 1867.
He was active in the Hywassee [Hiawasee] Baptist Association having served as a messenger from Concord Baptist Church in 1891.

He married Elizabeth Stuffelstreet, August 15 1867 in Roane County Tennessee.
Elizabeth Stuffelstreet was born November 5 1844 and died July 12, 1927. She is buried next to Theodrick in Concord Baptist Church cemetery, near the back left corner and the highest part of the cemetery.

The photo of their home circa 1900 is a small log cabin. A later picture of the house shows the chimney he built by gathering stones from the farm, and a portion of the log structure not covered by siding.

Theodrick and Elizabeth had eight children:
Theophilus 1868 - 1944
James 1871 - 1871
Janie 1872 - 1955
